Terms of Use

Welcome to NoorPause. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the NoorPause mobile application and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). By downloading, accessing, or using NoorPause, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. About NoorPause

NoorPause is a mindfulness application designed for Muslim users. It schedules short pause moments throughout the day, displays authentic Qur'an verses and hadiths during each pause, and includes optional Family mode features that allow parents to assign pauses to their children's linked accounts.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create a NoorPause account directly. If you are under 13, you may use NoorPause only through a Family account linked to a parent or legal guardian who has accepted these Terms on your behalf.

If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or legal guardian's permission to use the Service and agree to these Terms.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for:

• Providing accurate registration information
• Keeping your account credentials secure
• All activity that occurs under your account

If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately at support@imanlock.com.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

NoorPause offers auto-renewing subscription plans:

• NoorPause Solo — one personal account (monthly or annual)
• NoorPause Family — one parent account plus up to four linked children (monthly or annual)

The price you will be charged is the price displayed in the App Store at the moment of purchase, in your local currency. If the App Store price and any price mentioned elsewhere ever differ, the App Store price at purchase controls.

Eligible new subscribers receive a 7-day free trial. If you do not cancel during the trial, your subscription begins at the end of the trial and you will be charged at the rate shown at purchase.

4.1 How billing works

• All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store
• Your subscription auto-renews unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends
• You manage your subscription, including cancellation, through your Apple ID Settings
• Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policy

4.2 Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time through Apple. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not issue refunds for partial periods; Apple may, at their discretion, issue refunds in certain circumstances.

4.3 Price changes

We may change subscription prices from time to time. If we do, we will give you advance notice through the app or by email. Price changes only apply to billing periods that start after the notification, and you may cancel before the new price takes effect.

5. Family Mode and Child Accounts

The Family plan allows a parent or legal guardian to link up to four child accounts.

By linking a child's account, you confirm that:

• You are the parent or legal guardian of that child
• You have obtained your child's age-appropriate consent
• You are responsible for your child's use of the Service
• The personal information you provide for the child's account is accurate

We collect minimal information from child accounts (display name, pause activity, completion data) and never share it with third parties for marketing purposes. You may unlink a child account at any time from within the app.

6. Religious Content

NoorPause displays the Qur'an in the Uthmani script following the layout of the Madinah Mushaf (typeface and text courtesy of the King Fahd Glorious Qur'an Printing Complex), together with an English translation (Marmaduke Pickthall, public domain), Latin transliteration, and Arabic tafsir (al-Tafsir al-Muyassar). Hadiths are sourced from canonical collections including Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Sunan Abi Dawud, Sunan an-Nasa'i, and Sunan Ibn Majah. Full attributions appear in the app under Settings → Credits & Sources.

While we take care to verify the authenticity of every reminder and lesson, translations and explanatory material are human works: we make no warranty as to the accuracy or completeness of translations, attributions, or chains of transmission, and we welcome corrections at support@imanlock.com.

6A. Not Medical or Professional Advice

NoorPause is a wellbeing and devotional tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical, psychological, psychiatric, or therapeutic advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are experiencing a mental-health crisis or a condition such as compulsive device use that concerns you, please seek help from a qualified professional or your local emergency services. Never rely on the app as a substitute for professional care.

6B. App Blocking, Screen Time, and Safety

NoorPause's app-blocking features are built on Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls and Device Activity) frameworks. By enabling them you acknowledge and agree that:

• You choose what to block. You (or, in Family Mode, each account holder on their own device) select which apps are shielded and when. We do not choose for you.
• Blocking is best-effort. Shielding depends on Apple's frameworks, iOS settings, device state, and system behaviour we do not control. We do not guarantee that blocking will engage, persist, or be impossible to bypass (including by a determined child).
• Emergency functions are not affected. NoorPause does not and cannot block the Phone app's emergency-call capability or system emergency features. Do not configure or rely on the app in any way that could interfere with access to emergency help.
• Family Mode is a tool, not supervision. Parents remain solely responsible for their children's device use, wellbeing, and safety. NoorPause is an aid to healthy habits, not a substitute for parental supervision or a child-safety product.
• Consequences of blocked access are yours. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for missed notifications, messages, calls (other than emergency calls, which are never blocked), deadlines, transactions, or other consequences of apps being shielded at times you or your family configured.

6C. Your Content

Some features let you submit content — for example an optional profile photo, a nickname for a linked child, or a short reason when using an emergency unlock. You retain ownership of your content. You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, and display that content solely to operate the Service (for example, showing an emergency-unlock reason to the linked parent). You represent that your content is yours, is accurate, and does not violate any law or third-party right. We may remove content that violates these Terms. This licence ends when the content or your account is deleted, except as needed to comply with law.

7. Acceptable Use

When you use NoorPause, you agree NOT to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission
• Misrepresent your identity, age, or relationship to a child you are linking
• Use the Family feature to monitor any person who has not consented to be monitored
• Submit false reports or abuse our support channels
• Sublicense, resell, or transfer your subscription to another person
• Interfere with the security, performance, or features of the Service

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The NoorPause app — including its design, code, user interface, brand identity, and proprietary content (excluding the public-domain Qur'anic text and properly attributed hadiths) — is owned by NoorPause and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

9. Privacy

Your use of NoorPause is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described there.

10. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from within the app: Settings → Delete Account. Account deletion immediately revokes your authentication credentials and removes your account from active services.

Within 30 days, we permanently remove all personal data associated with your account. Anonymized usage statistics may be retained for product improvement.

If you have an active subscription when you delete your account, you must also cancel the subscription separately through your Apple ID Settings to stop further billing — account deletion alone does not cancel an Apple subscription.

11. Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your access to NoorPause if:

• You materially violate these Terms
• We are required to do so by law or a regulatory authority
• We discontinue the Service (we will provide reasonable advance notice)

If we terminate your account for cause, we are not obligated to refund any subscription fees.

12. Disclaimers

NoorPause is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
• Reminders or notifications will arrive at the exact scheduled times (delivery depends on your device, iOS, and Apple's scheduling infrastructure)
• The App Blocking feature will block all distractions (it relies on Apple's Family Controls and Screen Time APIs, which we do not control)

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, NoorPause and its operator will not be liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages
• Loss of data, revenue, profits, business opportunities, or spiritual practice
• Damages arising from your inability to access the Service

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) fifty US dollars ($50 USD).

What these Terms never limit. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law. If you are a consumer, you may have mandatory rights under the laws of your country, province, or state (including consumer-protection legislation in Canada, the EU, the United Kingdom, and Australia); nothing in these Terms reduces those rights, and where a provision of these Terms conflicts with them, your statutory rights prevail to the extent of the conflict.

14. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless NoorPause and its operator from any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, or expense (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and where appropriate notify you in the app or by email.

Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you must stop using the Service.

16. Apple App Store Terms

Because you obtain NoorPause through Apple's App Store, the following terms also apply and prevail over anything inconsistent in these Terms, solely with respect to the iOS app:

• These Terms are an agreement between you and us only — not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
• Your licence to the app is limited to a non-transferable licence to use it on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service (including Family Sharing where available).
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
• If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation, and any remaining claims are governed by these Terms.
• Apple is not responsible for addressing claims relating to the app, including product-liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, consumer-protection claims, or claims under privacy legislation.
• If a third party claims the app infringes their intellectual-property rights, we — not Apple — are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of that claim to the extent required by these Terms.
• You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• You must comply with applicable third-party terms (for example, your wireless carrier's data agreement) when using the app.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

17. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts located in the Province of Ontario, Canada, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Consumer carve-outs. If you are a consumer resident in a jurisdiction whose law grants you the right to sue or be sued in your local courts, or to the protection of your local consumer law (for example the EU, the United Kingdom, Quebec, or Australia), nothing in this section deprives you of that right. Either party may also bring an individual claim in small-claims court in the claimant's place of residence, where available.

18. General

• Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
• No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
• Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of the Service, provided your rights are not reduced.
• Force majeure. We are not liable for delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control (including outages of Apple, hosting, or network providers, acts of God, war, labour disputes, or governmental action).
• Survival. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 6–6C, 8, 12–14, and 16–18) survive.
• Language. These Terms are drafted in English. Any translation is provided for convenience; the English version controls to the extent permitted by law.
• Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and NoorPause regarding the Service, and supersede any prior agreements.
